The story
The German Do-it-yourself-market is the most competitive market in Europe. At the top position stands the corporate group of Praktiker, consisting of its two brands “Praktiker” and “Max Bahr”. Praktiker is considered as discounter which offers its customers permanent low prices in 241 markets in Germany with about 70,000 products all around building, constructing and renovating. For the relaunch of www.praktiker.de the Praktiker Bau- und Heimwerkermärkte Holding AG was looking for an agency which owns a high level of competency in the area of conception and creation of eCommerce solutions. Additionally we were able to convince with our long-time experience in the processing and updating of content for webpages.
Our challenge
The relaunch of the webpage required a completely new and fully integrated concept. For the design of the image website the corporate design elements of Praktiker had to be adapted for media compatibility. The structure of the page should allow the users easy access to a multitude of information about the company. Besides the already existing content, new content and functions had to be integrated into the new concept of the website. Also the section for corporate clients had to be revised to give the customers easy access to their user accounts.
Our result
For the better presentation of the many catalogues, guidebooks and brochures Praktiker.de offers the user now flash-online catalogues which are updated on a weekly basis. Like this easy access to the wide range of products is offered to the users. In the section of advice and consulting the user can find guidebooks to compensate the often wanted but many times missing consultation in the internet. To simplify the search for a market we implemented a highly innovative and technical updated market search on the basis of Google maps. Like this the customer can find the nearest hardware store easily and quickly. The new concept was programmed with all its contents and functions in XHTML, CSS and Javascript.
The future
Together Praktiker and hmmh have big plans for the future. The relaunch convinced the customers. As leading agency, we will be responsible for the consulting of all online activities and the coordination of online service partners, as well as for the weekly update of the catalogues.
