The NORDSEE restaurant chain specialising in fish and seafood surprised its customers and Facebook fans last Christmas with a special gift: The NORDSEE Advent calendar! Every day, exciting prizes hidden behind the calendar windows awaited discovery by NORDSEE fans. The Advent calendar was not only designed to be implemented as a microsite, but also to be integrated onto the NORDSEE Germany fan page via a tab.
The aim of the Advent calender was to increase the fan page’s reach. But above all else, the campaigns sought to significantly increase fan activity and generate even more interest in the Facebook page. Another aim: to significantly boost NORDSEE Germany’s fan numbers.
hmmh took charge of fully designing and implementing the NORDSEE Advent calendar: content design and creation, Flash implementation on a microsite, and technical realisation. hmmh also integrated a tab linked directly to the Advent calendar into the NORDSEE fan page. The campaign involved active channel management.
The special feature of the Advent calendar competition was its strong connection with 24 selected NORDSEE branches. Each competition question revolved around one of the branches and their location. The prizes were also closely related to the NORDSEE brand and chain store. The main prize was a 1-year 50% VIP discount on all NORDSEE products. And there were many other brand-based prizes.
The NORDSEE Advent calendar was a great success! The community recorded a fan increase of more than 30%. Article hits tripled during Advent, and the number of Facebook page hits increased accordingly. Article feedback also doubled.
